Melodie Addington Obituary

Long time Durango resident Melodie Addington peacefully passed away Thursday June 8th at her home in Durango. She was 66. She was born to Vernon and Murtle Tomford on August 29, 1950 in Westminster Colorado. Mrs. Addington graduated from Westminster School in Denver and also attended San Juan Vo-tech School. Melodie was a Princess Warrior and full of life. She was a mother of three children first and foremost. She helped people with disabilities even though she was disabled herself. Her passion for life was beyond understanding. There was no place she did not want to go and explore. The journey to destinations was more than half the fun and excitement. Places she has traveled were Aspen, Denver, Mexico, Lake Powell, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and a hitching trip all the way to New York City. Cowboys were a very special part in real life and on TV to her. Favorite shows were Bonanza, Gun Smoke, Big Valley, The Virginian, True Grit, The Outlaw Jose Wales, and many others. Melodie enjoyed looking good, wearing beautiful clothes and jewelry. She worked as a travel agent in Aspen early in her work career. She also had worked at Purgatory as a Sales Agent. St Marks Church was her place of faith in Durango. Mrs. Addington is survived by her three sons; Robert Lee Chalfant III, RJ Ferrell, Vernon Ferrell, stepdaughter Ashley Addington and granddaughter Evelyn Ferrell; former husbands Robert Lee Chalfant Jr of Nashville, Renn Ferrell and current husband Robert Lemley both of Durango. Also deceased husband Jim "Twisty" Addington. She will be truly missed by all. There will a celebration of life reception at 4:00pm Friday June 16, 2017 at The Elks Lodge Picnic grounds on Florida Rd. Please donate to Melodie Addington Fund at Alpine Bank of Colorado, no need for gifts or flowers.
