Maxine Sproul Obituary
So this is what it comes down to, a few paragraphs in a local newspaper. You could write a book. Her expertise, Her intellect, Her wealth of knowledge, Her compassion, Her love, Her giving, Her . . . Maxine Nellie Christensen Sproul, Maxine, Mac, Micky, Mom, Daughter, Wife, Sister, Grandma, Friend, Matriarch, Caregiver . . . the last of a generation where the work ethic was strong and doing the RIGHT thing was unquestionable. Maxine was always there. I believe if a picture paints a thousand words, the above picture is the book of Maxine (a full volume). She is and will always be greatly loved & missed. We have been Truly Blessed with so many very special moments and fond memories. Thank You Mom!!! Contributions may be made on Her behalf in the form of sweet prayers and pleasant thoughts.

P.S. I want to add here that the day you were so kind to me, it seemed all the more Heaven sent because I was standing alone on the sidewalk. There was no gathering. My father did not live in Durango though he died here. There was no service. I had only just viewed his body. You simply seemed to have intuited I needed a hug.

I didn't know your mother, Steve, and already I wish I had. What I do know is how serendipitous and warm your hug was for me the day my Dad died in 1997. I was standing outside Hood and you appeared (after years?) out of nowhere, walking across Third Ave. toward me. Wordlessly, you embraced me and held tight. You couldn't know how much that meant to me at the time. Verily, you seemed an angel from Heaven. I'm certain that is where your marvelous Maxine is now....and now here is that hug back at you! In any event, please take comfort in your Mom's beautiful spirit and irrepressible spark that will live on in you and her loved ones forever .
