Matthew Wilkin Obituary

Matthew Cullen Wilkin III "Cully", Son of Sean and Susan Devereaux passed away March 8, 2016. He leaves behind his beloved four legged child Roxy, Parents Sean and Susan Devereaux, Sisters Amber Jacin and Emily Wilkin, Brother Joshua Devereaux (Fiance Alexandra Beard), Grandmother Darlene Collins and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cully was Born November 9, 1982 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He lived with his family in Utah, California and Texas then moving overseas to Ecuador and Italy before settling in Durango where he resided for the last 19 years. Cully was a sweet and kind soul and was a loyal friend to those he loved. He was a gifted songwriter and singer and loved making music with his sister. The sound of his guitar will be greatly missed. He was a talented chef and spent his most recent working days cooking in his family's restaurant with his mom and sister. He has worked in many Durango restaurants through the years but especially loved his time at le Rendezvous. He attended College in Ann Arbor Michigan and also in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was younger, he traveled overseas with his family and attended international schools both in Ecuador and Italy where he learned to speak Spanish and Italian. He loved the ocean and learned to scuba dive at the tender age of 12. His first certified dive was at night in Bonaire with his dad. Cully loved all types of creatures from scorpions to Turtles. He was seldom seen without his faithful companion Roxanne or Princess Roxy as we call her. Cully's artistic abilities were vast and we are lucky to have so many of his paintings. Cully was very intelligent. He had a great understanding of the workings of the universe both scientifically and spiritually. He was very intuitive and sensed the needs of those around him. He had a great sense of humor and his infectious laugh and larger than life smile will be missed.

In Lieu of flowers please send donations in "Cully's" name to the La Plata County Humane Society where his Best Friend Roxy came from. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, 2-4PM at the Powerhouse Science Center, 1333 Camino del Rio, Durango.
