Margaret McCann Obituary

August 17, 1915 - July 22, 2016 Peggy McCann, formerly of Beverly Hills and Westwood, passed away peacefully on July 22nd in Santa Monica at age 100. She was the matriarch of the McCann Clan, aka Grandma Peggy, Grams, Mama Killy, Auntie Mame, Parnelli Peg, and the Pegster. She had a most positive attitude and generous heart, always welcoming family and friends with open arms. She was a true character with a great sense of humor, always in kindness and love. Peggy was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Ethel (Wright) and Austin F. O'Brien. She attended Boston Teachers' College before meeting her husband, Jack, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving children John (Janet) of Santa Barbara, Austin (Roxanne) of Malibu, Michael (Anita) of Ketchum, ID, Richard (Cindy) of Santa Monica, Molly (Chris) Outwater of Carpinteria and Maureen (Bob) Bailey of Woodland Hills. Her cherished grandchildren include Casey (Melissa), Kevin (Sara), Luc (Megan), Michael, Austin (Lexi) McCann, Katie and Colleen Bailey, John and Mark Outwater, and great-grandchildren Mykala and Charlie McCann. In addition, Peg leaves her cousin, Sheila Lyne of Boston, MA, her sister-in-law, Marge McCann Bowen of Laguna Woods, and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, John R. ("Jack") McCann and her dear son, Brian, as well as her three adored sisters Dorothy Byall, Billie Conley and Mary Schnieders. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel of the Risen Christ in Culver City on Thursday, August 4th, at 9:30 AM.
