It is with sad yet peaceful hearts that we announce the passing on January 3,2022 of Explorer, Adventurer, and Friend Extraordinaire, Jim Puff AKA Puff, Puffer, Uncle Puffer, PuffDaddy, Jimmy.
The vast collection of friends and family will miss Jim's huge presence in our lives. His voice ringing strong will always be remembered as he was continually in contact with so many, spread all over the world.
James Raymond Puff was born in Evanston, Illinois to adoring parents, Hank and Jean Puff, on September 3, 1951. In 1960, the family moved to Williamsville, New York and in 1971 to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
Jim's away from home education began at Ridley College in St. Catherine's , Ontario. Here he met many life long friends, and was an integral part of both the football and rowing teams.
From Ridley, Jim answered the call to 'Go West Young Man' and moved to Durango, Colorado to attend Ft. Lewis College. He and his faithful dog Albee, spent many days exploring the beauty and wonder of Colorado in his 1968 sky blue Toyota Landcruiser.
Jim spent summers in New Hampshire, sailed Tall Ships in the Atlantic, and explored the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. He wholeheartedly created his heaven on Earth!
An avid reader, with special interests in Nature, Geography, and Politics, we could always count on Puff for an interesting conversation!
As a chef, Jim created and worked for many varied and colourful establishments. A lover of Music, Food and People, he was a friend of all the world, and a generous listener.
We drink a " Cup of Kindness" as we say 'Fairwinds, Puff' and thank you for enriching our lives. A part of you stays with us, as a part of us goes with you...
We will honour your final wish for us all to find peace.

Jim aka Puff was a person i am proud to call a friend. He was a great elk member and always volunteered at our telluride lodge even though he was a member of
Durango lodge. When i moved to Durango he gave me friendship and good advice about joining a new community. I will miss his support, kindness and intelligent conversation immensely.
