Joyce Miles Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Arlene Newton Miles, 82, died Friday, July 12, 2013.
Mrs. Miles was a native of Brockton, Mass., and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a WAVES. She was a longtime resident of Dublin and attended Dublin Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Miles was retired as a manager at Oxford Clothing Outlet in Dublin. She enjoyed knitting, was an avid reader and loved animals, especially her cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Shave Miles; one brother, Robert Edward Newton; and one granddaughter, Beth Miles Daly.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Shave Miles, Jr. and Debra Miles of Pembroke and Robert Edward and Connie Miles of Richmond Hill; one sister, Lois Newton of Alton, N.H.; three granddaughters, Brandi Simon, Tina Myers and Kim Jackson; a special cousin, Margie Sawyer of Stoughton, Mass.; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Flanders Morrsion Funeral Home in Pembroke. Burial will follow in Northside Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
