Colleen Gay Obituary

Northfield - Colleen Ora Gay passed away in Northfield MN, January 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1950, in Minneapolis, MN, to parents Mary Elizabeth and Ora Dale Gay. The third of 5 children. She graduated from Holy Angels high school in 1968 and Mundelein College in 1972. She is survived by beloved husband of 37 years, Ray Weiland. Colleen lived her life with determination, curiosity and an exuberant sense of color. She experienced early professional success as an Educator and Business Executive in the Vocational Training industry. She was a life long learner who explored areas of interest with inquisitiveness, and determination. One such pursuit being a passionate dedication to Wholistic approaches to health and lifestyle. Following early retirement Colleen and Ray spent time in Colorado, Florida and Minnesota. They fell in love with the Emerald Coast in Florida and spent winters there. Colleen became part of the community, making lifelong friends. Colleen is survived by her loving family, including four siblings and their spouses: Shirley Gilmore, Carol Lange (Steve), James Gay (Nancy), Ken Gay and many wonderful nieces, and nephews. Colleen shared deep affection with Ray for their pets, their dog Oreo and their cat Midnight. They were treasured members of their family and greatly mourned. Colleen will be deeply missed and always remembered with love and affection by her friends and family. A Celebration of Colleen's Life will be held this spring. Arrangements are with the Bierman, Benson, & Langehough Funeral Home of Northfield. www.northfieldfuneral.com
