Patrick Riddle Obituary

Patrick Riddle beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather. Born June 6, 1951 in Muskegon Michigan. Passed peacefully September 14, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with the wretched ALS.

Patrick was a renaissance man with a Colorado hue, and the chapters of Patrick's life read like the tattered pages of a well-read book filled with stories shared with friends and family at holiday get-togethers, around campfires, and at the jobsite. Always with a big smile and a hearty laugh.

Patrick arrived in Colorado in 1963 when his father packed up his brood and moved them to Denver then on to Colorado Springs where he spent his youth. Patrick served in the US Army, enlisting at the age of 17 where he enjoyed adventures in El Paso then on to Korea. He returned to Colorado where he made his way to the SW corner of the state and met and married his first wife Priscilla Hays and had daughter Megan. Years later, he met Shelly, his wife and partner of the last 33 years. He became a respected Stone Mason like his father and brother and left a legacy of everlasting structures from foundations to luxury fireplaces, and modern kivas across the four corners.

Patrick spent quality time playing his dad's Gibson guitar, making "Rock Art" fashioned of stone and branches, and enjoying his home and property the "Riddle Ranch". He enjoyed a good meal and a generous Jameson's. A Sunday could find him cheering on the Broncos on one of their good years or not so much.

He could always surprise you with discussions of current events or ancient philosophers. He loved lake time and will be remembered for spirited games of croquet, bocci, and dice best played on craggy lawns or the rugged shores of Navajo Lake where many summer weekends were spent boating and playing whether it be the Annual Pine River Acoustic Chicken Fry, a 4th of July fireworks filled campout or a sun-filled weekend with close friends. Patrick is survived by his wife Shelly Theroux Riddle, his daughter Megan, granddaughter Liberty, brothers Tim (Mert), Dan (Tiffany), Tony (Patsy), his very special sister Shanna, many loved nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces, and hundreds of friends who will forever remember his laidback style and quick wit.

As we look back each us at our own favorite loving memories of Patrick, we will all share that he was a sweet, caring, funny, hard-working man with a huge heart and a special way with everyone he met.

No immediate service will be held, instead, a Celebration of Patrick's Life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the ALS Association.
