Karen Renee Edmonds was born in Garden Grove California to John Morton Motter and Edna Ruth Motter. At the age of approximately 7 years Karen and her family moved to Colorado Springs Colorado. Karen resided in Colorado Springs until her early teen years when she moved to Pagosa Springs CO. where she lived with her father. At the age of 17 Karen joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Karen served a church mission to Paris France when she was 21 years of age. While serving a mission in France she gained a great love for the United States of America hearing story after story from the French people about the liberation of France from German occupation during World War 2. Karen married G. Bruce Edmonds in the Manti Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on May 5, 1989. Karen and Bruce have resided in Bayfield CO for 24 years. They have been married for 33 years. Karen graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. She was a prolific writer, wife and mother of two daughters. Karen will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She authored two books in a planned historical fiction series called "Shining City On A Hill" Book one is titled "Priests and Plowboys" and Book two is titled "Fanning the Flames." Karen spent years researching the reformation and took numerous trips to Europe to learn about the Reformation which her books highlight in graphic detail. Karen loved her two daughters Alyssa Renee Edmonds and Lydia Annabelle Edmonds. She gave her life to raising her two daughters. Karen loved hiking in the San Juan Mountains. She also had a passion for mountain biking. Karen is survived by her husband Bruce Edmonds, daughters Lydia Edmonds and Alyssa Edmonds. She is also survived by her Father John Motter and brother and sister Steve Motter and Neola Motter. Karen is proceeded in death by her mother Edna Ruth Motter. "What a Beautiful Life Services" will be held on Friday 11/5/2021 at 11:00am at the Bayfield CO. Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The address is 2011 US Hwy 160B Bayfield, CO 81122.

I'm saddened to hear about Karen's passing. She was such an amazing, awesome, beautiful, wonderful,loving, caring woman & an awesome friend of 40 years. She will be missed. Prayers go out to Bruce, Alyssa & Family. Karen, TILL WE MEET AGAIN
