Son of PTISAWQUAH; Loving brother to CHIG-WA-QUAH (stormee mckinney), MIMIKWE (skilah mckinney), MESHAQUAH (tia mckinney) & PNESHIQUAH (toree mckinney); Proud uncle to kaiya mckinney and journee mckinney; Nephew of NAH-NEEM-NUK-SHCUCK (uncle bubba) and OSH-N-NAH (uncle chinney); and numerous family from Potawatomi lands.
To respect the family's Potawatomi culture, no visual imagery should be displayed for one full year after services. In addition, CHIG-WA-KIA understands loved one's need to grieve yet he needs to be let go so he can continue his path to our Creator.
CHIG-WA-KIA/gavinn was born and raised on stolen Ute, Pueblo and Diné lands. With a strong family and positive adult support, he was figuring out who he was, what he wanted and his place. As a child everyone noticed his loving, gentle, compassionate demeanor. He was growing into the person he was meant to be. His values were clear, demonstrated through his actions, words and understanding of power structures. He used his power and privilege to stand up for others and try to do what's right. He befriended people from all different identities and backgrounds, and it came easy to him. With a love for math and science, he was ambitious in his goals and had plans to go to college. He liked to surround himself with like minded individuals.
Visitation will be from noon until 5 pm on Friday, December 17 at Hood Mortuary Chapel and a service will be held at 2 pm during that time.
