Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend

Carol will be so missed. She spent her life-enriching and nurturing others and lived with no regrets. There are no words, only her legacy of values, of adventures, and of discovering what's beyond the next hillside.

Born to Robert Murray and Marion Murray in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Carol died at the age of seventy-five after a 3-year battle with breast cancer.

Those who knew Carol were aware of her bountiful, youthful, tireless energy, and of her enthusiasm for life, her curiosity, and her excitement to risk and explore differing peoples, cultures, and languages. Her relentless curiosity never slowed. She valued her love of family and friends above all else, while always remembering her commitment to her well-learned and practiced principles and values.

Carol lived a life of tangible accomplishments - glider pilot, ski instructor, Grand Chef, surfer, Woman's Health Care specialist with Planned Parenthood, accomplished ocean water sailor, French verb, slang, and culture master, gardener exceptionnelle, vintner, and six-time finisher of the Durango/Silverton bike race; an accomplished freelance bike tourer, a southeast Utah canyon rat. However, it is far and away Carol's grace, integrity, and nurturing that is her legacy.

Her numerous tangible successes were balanced with beauty, magic, and goodness. She and her husband Dan were en-route to begin another adventure after fifty years in Durango - home sold, goodbyes said - anxious to share in yet another life adventure. While tragically time simply ran out, our dream lives on.

Raised as an only child, Carol Joyce Guiet was a proud high school cheerleader graduating in 1964 from Attleboro High School, just south of Boston. Carol attended and graduated from Bryant College in 1967.

Carol shared close, long-lasting, friendships with a group of six other girls beginning in the second grade which continues on today within the wonderful core of her four lifelong "sisters."

Carol is survived by Daniel C. Guiet, her husband of 45 years, and by their two sons: Eric Sakadinsky, his wife Kim, their children Olivia 22, and Alexander 20; and by Peter Sakadinsky and his son Cooper 16, along with a wealth of dear friends from Durango and around the world.

We remember her smile, breadth, and depth of experiences, combined with her hard and fast values of equality, equal justice, fairness, pro-choice, decency, and her highest respect of true American patriotism.

There are no words to be said. Carol has always steered each of us Never To Waste Time, To chase and attain your dreams small and huge, and to Always to endorse kindness, generosity, and honesty while rejecting hate, evil, and falsehoods.

How proud we are of Carol Joyce Guiet. How fortunate we each are to have her love, nurturing, and friendship. How we miss her.
