Ramona J. Cugnini, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 1, 2022 in her Durango home. Ramona was born July 11, 1929 to Chester and Irene Harris of Marvel, CO. Ramona graduated from Farmington High in 1947. She was a very active charter member of the Marvel Grange helping build it, and share it with those she loved. Ramona loved to play softball and bowl. She could often be found at the racetrack or at the casino. She was a talented poet, writing two poetry books and an autobiography. Ramona married the love of her life, Pat Cugnini, in 1972. Ramona was known as a classy lady Cowgirl and wore that title proudly. One of her favorite sayings was 'You always feel better wearing a little bit of lipstick.'
She enjoyed spending quality time with her friends. Ramona looked forward to performing at the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Her pride and joy were bragging of the many accomplishments within her family.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Donald, Jack, and Avis Harris; Her parents, Chester and Irene; and Her husband Pat Cugnini. She is survived by her large family and her many friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Ramona's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mercy, 1 Mercado St., Suite 270, Durango, CO 81301. OR the women's resource center 679 E 2nd Ave, Durango, CO 81301.

Aunt Monie was a wonderful person, full of grace and elegance and honesty and wit. I feel so lucky for the time we got to spend together. She will be greatly missed.
