Durango native, Maureen Lynch, died on December 22nd, 2021. She was 76 years old. Known as "Mo", she was born July 13, 1945, at Mercy Hospital in Durango. She was raised in Pagosa Springs and was the daughter of Ben K. and June E. Lynch.
Mo was a bookkeeper most of her adult life, working for the Durango Herald, Tamarron Resort, LA Wood, and Carver Brewing Company. She loved her work and made many friends through the years.
Mo loved her family, friends, and critters unconditionally. She enjoyed bird watching and nature walks on the Florida Mesa. She loved the Beatles, Star Trek, movies, and reading.
Mo's summer birthday parties were legendary. Having a "cerveza on the mesa" with Mo and friends was the highlight of summer. Mo gained many friends as she worked and lived in the Durango area. She had a positive attitude, and she was a great listener. She started or ended a conversion with a wonderful positive phrase including:
"Top of the morning to you"
"Who loves you baby"
"Love and Light"
"Peace"
After losing her fiancé in the Vietnam War, Mo never married and had no children except for her numerous critters. Mo is survived by her brothers Ben (Judy) Lynch of Pagosa Springs, Casey (Laurie) Lynch of Durango, and her sister-in-law Debbie Lynch of Aurora. She is also survived by nephews Pat (Kristi) Lynch of Broomfield, Mike (Neisa) Lynch of Westminster, Larry (Dana ) Lynch and David Lynch of Pagosa Springs, Grady Lynch of Durango, Michael (Cora) Lynch of Kent, WA, Christopher (Sarah) Lynch of Los Angeles, CA and Jack Lynch of Denver. She is also
survived by her nieces Kelly (Connor) Lynch of Bellingham, WA, Meghan Lynch, and Lauren (Sebastian) Lynch of Broomfield, and Averie Lynch of San Diego, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Jack.
A memorial service is planned for July 1, 2022.

Sorry to hear that Mo is gone. When I first discovered this branch of my family through genealogy pursuits I made a special trip to meet my "new" cousins on my way home from a drive to Denver. Mo was especially engaging and welcoming, and she helped me place people in the family tree and shared photos. We stayed in contact ever since. If I had lived closer, I would loved to have spent more time with her. My best to the family at this time.

Growing up in Pagosa Springs living across the alley from the Lynch family was great. I am sure Maureen (Mo)
Would laugh at or childish behaviors, but in my memory never a mean word .She let us be ornery neighborhood kids we were. Live and let live. I love the Beatles also... " the love you give is equal to the love you receive " or something like that

First met Mo in the late 70's when she started at the Durango Herald. Also worked with her when she work at Tamarron in accounting. Had a lot of good times with her and her sense of humor. She will be missed.
