Brian Alexander Nelson was born on December 31, 1965, in Whittier, California. He was adopted into the loving family of Robert and Joanne Nelson, and raised in Placentia, California. Brian grew up with his brother, Robert Andrew Nelson in Orange County and lived in California for most of his life until he moved to Durango, Colorado in 2012. Brian married the love of his life, Teressa Mattson Nelson, on July 26, 2013, in Silverton, Colorado. Brian passed away on June 5, 2021, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Brian is survived by his wife, Teressa Nelson; brother Andy Nelson; parents Bob and Joanne Nelson; children Kirsten Nelson and Brett Nelson; step-children Katelynn Harmon, Ashley Fenn, Afton Fenn, Roper Fenn, Ryleigh Fenn; grandchildren River Fenn, Kaleb Fenn, Kadence DiMeglio; cousins Jennifer Beckey and Burl Jensen; birth mother Sherri Randall; brother Gary Welch; and sister Carrie Tatrea.
Brian was a brilliant entrepreneur and developed software to help car washes streamline their businesses. He was also instrumental in partnering with Princess Cruise Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines to convert their ships to RFID cashless ships. He was an avid sports fan with the Anaheim Ducks Hockey team being his all-time favorite. He loved classic cars and owned many show room hot rods throughout his life. Brian loved to travel and has added most of Europe to his bucket list.
Brian leaves behind many friends and co-workers that have cherished his friendship over the years.
Graveside service will be held at Greenmount Cemetery, Durango, CO June 18th, 2021 at 2pm. There will be a live stream for those friends and family that would like to be a part of his laying to rest: https://youtu.be/byK02lvV2DE
There will be a celebration of life June 19th 2021 at 1pm at 10 Morning Glory Ave, Durango, CO with live music, burgers, hot dogs and brats and Memorial Lanterns released at sunset. Please bring chairs and a side dish to share.
