Thomas Monroe Hunter Jr

Tom was born in Encampment, Wyoming to Thomas Monroe Sr & Ruth Elaine Severns. Tom lived his youth years in Waldon, CO where he met his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Lee (Metzger) Hunter . The family lived in Denver in the early 60's and then moved to Durango, CO and raised their three children: Timothy Alan Hunter, Twila Marie Deason & Tisha May Rea. Tom was a hard worker for many years from the Ozark Mahoney Mine to Martin Marietta, Kai Bab Lumber Co, CDOT, El Paso Natural Gas and he retired finally in 1996 from Williams Gas. Tom always loved the outdoors, especially Hunting and Fishing and camping. His life was full of adventure as he also loved to travel with his wife Margie and his brothers, sisters and their spouses. He joined a RV Club, went on bus trips across America, cruised the oceans and one of their favorite places was to vacation in Hawaii. He was also known for his dance moves as he and Margie had been square dancing for years. Tom has made many great friends over the years and anyone who knew him knew he was loving, caring and had quite the sense of humor. He is also known as a loving husband, incredible father/ father in law, an amazing grandfather and great grandfather. Tom was preceded in death by: His Parents Tom & Ruth Hunter, Sisters : Shirley, Tilly , Brothers : Don, Jim, Larry Hunter and great granddaughter Abigail. Survived by: His wife Margie, Children : Timothy (Jo Anna) Hunter, Twila ( Ed ) Deason, Tisha (Preston) Rea. (14) Grand Children, (18) Great Grand Children ; Brother Bob (Mona) Hunter, Sisters Judy Cook and Jeannie Smith(Wayne) and numerous nieces and nephews. Celebration of life will be held at 10: 00 a.m. on Friday March 17, 2017 at The River Church - 860 Plymouth Dr, Durango, CO Reception to follow at The Heartwood Community Center- Bayfield , CO. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heart and Cancer foundation at Mercy Health Foundation in memory and honor of Thomas Hunter Jr. Mercy Health Foundation, Attn: Lauri Wilson-Lacy, 1010 Three Springs Blvd Ste 248, Durango, CO 81301

Your Dad always had a smile on his face, well that is when he didn't have a mischievous look. You never knew what he was up to. Loved seeing how much your parents loved each other. He will be missed, we are very sorry for your loss. Another great man in heaven. Love you Todd and Shelly McCoy.
