Ross Elmer Harvey, 87, passed away peacefully on Thurs., April 27, 2017 at Four Corners Health Care Center.
Ross was born May 24, 1929, to Morris B. Harvey & Thelma A. Kellogg in Hollywood, CA. His ancestors were early Colorado and California pioneers that arrived on a wagon train with the Donner Party, but arrived separately and unscathed.
Ross was raised on his family's "El Panorama" ranch in Paso Robles, CA. He graduated from Biola University in Whittier, CA. He had a mechanical maintenance career for the City of Delano, CA where he raised his two sons, followed by a teaching career at a boarding school on the Navajo reservation in Rough Rock, AZ. He spent most of his senior years in assisted & skilled nursing facilities where he managed to build a good life for himself & receive excellent care from many kind & generous people that he built strong & loving relationships with. He will be missed.
He loved riding motorcycles, the outdoors, designing & building complex mechanical things & helping others with projects. He had a most uncanny way of being resourceful & making great things from discards, his mechanical aptitude was astounding & often drew fair amounts of long-distance attention. His sons inherited his inventiveness & now use it in their careers to great advantage, even internationally.
He is survived by: brother, Alan F. Harvey; sister, Mary Annette Harvey; two sons, Vaughn & Andre, daughter-in-law Beatriz & beloved grandson, Marcellus. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Dawn Harvey & 2nd wife, Marijo Harvey.
A funeral service will be held Wed., May 10, 2017, at 10:00am at Hood Mortuary Chapel, with burial to follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
