Gwen Cook passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Gwen was born December 27, 1946 on her family's farm outside of Browns, Alabama as the second youngest of eight children. Gwen met and married her husband of 42 years while working in the hotel industry in Birmingham, Alabama. After attending Wayne State College where she earned a BA in History she and her husband moved to Durango, Colorado where they have resided for nearly thirty years. She provided years of dedicated service to the Presbyterian Church at the local, regional, and national levels. She was an avid reader, writer, and world traveler. Gwen never met a stranger. Gwen is survived by her husband Roy Cook, her son Chad Cook and his wife Sabrina, and her sister Margret Wells and her husband Harold. A memorial service will be held at Durango's First Presbyterian Church, on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2pm.

Dear Roy and family,
Your Florida folks at First Pres have held you in prayer these days and trust you are granted a certain peace. We count ourselves blessed to have worshipped and fellowshipped, studied the word, worked on various events and enjoyed this time with Gwen. She has given us a gift more precious than gold: she's given us a legacy of living out one's faith unwavering.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with each of you. The many,many miles cannot hinder our praise and thanksgiving for the life of Gwen Cook.
